On November 22, the 6th Corporate Social Responsibility Awards Ceremony sponsored by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China was held in Nanjing. Arkema (China) Investment Co., Ltd Changshu Branch was granted the MNC award “Leadership in CSR & Sustainable Growth”, for its two long-term CSR projects “Responsible Care Changshu AMIP Committee (RCCAC)” and “Common Ground® - ChemArt Green Innovation Class”. The award highly recognizes Arkema’s efforts in practicing corporate social responsibilities and contributing to sustainable development, and reflects Arkema’s determination to continuously driving its CSR projects in China.
Recently, the mutual Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) recognition visit of China and Turkey Customs was held at Sartomer (Guangzhou) Chemicals Company Limited, affiliated to Arkema Group. The visit will provide important evidence for AEO certification’s level and quality, and establish a solid foundation for finally signing the mutual AEO recognition agreement between China and Turkey Customs. Sartomer (Guangzhou), as a benchmark enterprise certified by high-level AEO in China, was eventually selected as the representing company involved in the visit, after careful filtering and multiple field visits by Nansha Customs, Guangzhou Customs, and the General Administrations of Customs, China (GACC). The visit means further recognition of the company’s AEO management system since it obtained the certification.
Arkema is associating with new partners and expanding the use of its high-performance solutions to the 3D manufacturing of composite materials, a major development in lightweight materials. This new technology, which combines the power of 3D printing and composite materials where Arkema has a leading position, will offer new perspectives and new applications in the aeronautics, automotive, energy and construction sectors to meet the growing demand for lightweight materials.

At the trade show, Arkema will present its latest innovative and sustainable high performance solutions designed for local paints and coatings market, including architectural coatings, architectural chemicals, industrial coatings, 3D printing, specialty coatings, fabric, inks and UV inkjet, from its business units of Sartomer, Coatex, Coating Resins, Technical Polymers, and Acrylic Monomers, addressing the fast growing coatings market in China.
On November 15 Arkema inaugurated, in the presence of Thierry Le Hénaff, the Group’s Chairman and CEO, and Hervé Morin, President of the Normandy Region, a new Global Center of Excellence for 3D Printing within its Cerdato Research & Development Center in Serquigny, Normandy (France). Arkema and the Normandy Region intend this new center of excellence dedicated to additive manufacturing based on high-performance polymers, to be of benefit to companies and training organizations in the region, as part of a collaborative initiative striving for swift adoption of these new production methods.
Initiated in September 2018, the construction of the new Multi50 Arkema 4 is progressing on schedule, and the first components are taking shape in the new infrastructures of the Lalou Multi shipyard in Verdon-sur-Mer (33). Designed by Romaric Neyhousser in close cooperation with Lalou Roucayrol and the future skipper Quentin Vlamynck, this latest generation trimaran will have different architectural lines from its predecessor. It will be more versatile, and also benefit from ergonomics adapted to its skipper and focused on performance. Another major asset: just like the Mini 6.50 Arkema 3, it will incorporate innovative solutions drawn from collaboration between the Research & Development and Business hubs of the Arkema Group and Lalou Multi. This prototype is due to be launched in spring 2020.
This summer, Arkema successfully brought on stream a new 90,000-ton acrylic acid reactor at its Clear Lake, Texas site to support the growth of its North American customers in the superabsorbents, paints, adhesives and water treatment markets.
In partnership with Agiplast, a pioneer in the manufacturing and regeneration of engineering plastic compounds, Arkema’s Technical Polymers business announces a new program to recycle high performance polyamides and PVDF fluoropolymers.
Driven by continued strong growth in the lithium-ion battery market for electric vehicles, Arkema will increase the capacity of its high-performance polymer PVDF dedicated to this market at its Changshu plant by approximately 50 percent. The investment further supports the Group’s ambition to accelerate growth in Advanced Materials

Arkema announces a project to acquire Lambson, a company specializing in photoinitiators for curing, a technology meeting the demands of cutting-edge markets such as electronics, 3D printing, digital ink, composites and high performance coatings. These solutions will complement the offering of Sartomer, a global leader in photocure resins, while helping speed up its development in this fast-growing market. This deal will further strengthen the share of specialties in Arkema’s product portfolio, in line with its long-term ambition.
Arkema announces a project for Bostik to acquire Prochimir, a company specializing in high performance thermobonding adhesive films. This acquisition would enable Bostik to broaden its offering of solvent-free thermobonding solutions earmarked for many fast-growing industrial applications in the automotive, construction, textile and medical markets. It would position Bostik among world-leading players in thermobonding films, and is part of Bostik’s strategy to expand through acquisitions targeting leading technologies in a market that remains fragmented.
Hexcel, Arkema and their partners are pleased to announce that their joint collaborative project “HAICoPAS” has received approval from Bpifrance and the support (grant of 6 million euros) of France’s Investissements d’Avenir program.

Arkema has successfully started up the 30% capacity extension of its photocure advanced liquid resin production plant in Nansha, located south of Canton, China. Effective 1st June 2019, Thierry Parmentier will be joining Arkema with a view to taking up the post of Executive Vice President Human Resources and Corporate Communication on 1st July, replacing Michel Delaborde who will be retiring. Thierry Parmentier will also join the Executive Committee.

Arkema has successfully started up a Kepstan® PEKK (Poly-Ether-Ketone-Ketone) plant at its site near Mobile (Alabama – United States). Inaugurated today, this investment is a new step in Arkema’s ambitious growth strategy in high-performance polymers and advanced materials, the development of which is supported by the Group’s cutting-edge technologies in search of solutions for sustainable development.
Arkema has joined the Ultimaker Material Alliance Program, bringing a very high performance polymer to the program. The new PVDF-based filament is specifically designed for printing highly technical 3D parts that require extreme performance.
At the JEC Innovation Award ceremony on March 13, 2019, Arkema received first prize in the "Construction" category for its innovation entailing glass fiber-composite reinforcement for concrete and composite cables for prestressed concrete made with the Elium® resin.

Arkema will inaugurate a new first-class polyester resin manufacturing facility in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra on February 13, 2019. This new facility also includes a dedicated laboratory to provide both application development and technical support. The facility will help Arkema better serve customers in the fast growing powder coating market throughout India, as well as the Gulf Region and surrounding countries.
