Arkema completed the acquisition of Den Braven, a leader in high performance sealants for insulation and construction in Europe, on 1st December. With this strong value-creating acquisition, Arkema confirms its long-term ambition for Bostik, and actively pursues the development of its High Performance Materials division.
Arkema Group, the global leading specialty chemicals company, is attending the Chinacoat 2016 tradeshow in Guangzhou, from 30 November to 2 December (Hall 10.2-Stand C25-34). At the trade show, Arkema is introducing a comprehensive range of high performance and durable solutions for paints and coatings, including acrylic monomers, coating resins, high performance additives from Coatex, a broad product range from Sartomer, and Kynar® PVDF for coatings.
Arkema announces a 25% Kynar® PVDF capacity increase on its Changshu platform near Shanghai. This project will help meet the strong demand, in particular in new energies and water treatment applications. This investment will support the Group’s ambition in Technical Polymers, and is part of its strategy to speed up the growth of its High Performance Materials division.
Arkema announced today plans to construct a new leading class polyester powder resin manufacturing facility, the first of its kind in India, on its existing resin platform in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The project, which represents an investment of approximately $US 15M and is targeted for completion in 2018, includes a new manufacturing unit and a dedicated new laboratory to provide both application development and technical support. The new facility will support customers in the fast growing powder coating market.
To support its customers’ growth around the world, in particular in the sports, consumer electronics and automotive markets, Arkema continues to expand its specialty polyamides production capacities in China and the United States.
To support its growth in Asia, Arkema is strengthening its research network by opening an Innovation Center in Korea. Based within the highly reputable HanYang University in Seoul, this new laboratory embodies a partnership spanning many years between Arkema and the University.
Building on its excellent results and steady progress over the last 10 years in terms of workplace safety and environmental footprint reduction, Arkema has now joined the best in class, and has decided to strengthen its long-term targets on these issues. Accordingly, the Group has set itself a new ambitious Corporate Social Responsibility framework by 2025, underpinned by the firm commitment of its employees, its technological know-how, and a targeted investment policy.
Arkema had an option, until early 2016, to increase its stake in Taixing Sunke Chemicals, a production joint
venture which owns and operates acrylic acid and butyl acrylate production units in Taixing, China, and
therefore access an additional 160,000 tons per year acrylic acid capacity.
